I am testing two mobile wallets, Blockstream Green and BlueWallet, and noticed differences in transaction fees for identical transactions, even when the fee rate (sat/vByte) is set the same.
Background on My Setup and Transactions
Background on My Setup and Transactions
Imported the same seed phrase into both wallets.
My wallet contains only one UTXO.
Sending the entire balance to another address using either Green or BlueWallet.
Both sending and receiving addresses start with “bc1” (SegWit/Bech32/P2WPKH address).
Fee rate is set at 1 sat/vByte for simplicity.
Observations:
Performing identical transactions in both wallets shows differences in calculated transaction size:
Green wallet: 177 vByte (screenshot A.1).
BlueWallet: 340 vByte (screenshot A.2).
TLDR1:
Q1. Why does the same transaction (from one UTXO) result in different transaction sizes (and therefore fees) between the two wallets (A.1 vs A.2)?
Additional Findings (Green wallet):
I noticed larger calculated transaction sizes with higher sending amounts:
Sending 0.10001000 BTC: 141 vByte (screenshot B.1).
Sending 0.10001001 BTC: 208 vByte (screenshot B.2).
Note: The sole UTXO exceeds these amounts.
TLDR2:
Q2. Why does adding just 1 satoshi increase the transaction size significantly (B.1 vs B.2)? Aren’t both transactions considered 1-input 2-outputs?
Q3. Interestingly, sending the whole balance results in 177 vByte (A.1), which is a 1-input 1-output transaction, yet the size is between the two 1-input 2-outputs transactions above, any idea why?
Comparison with BitcoinOps:
According to BitcoinOps:
A 1-input 1-output P2WPKH transaction = ~109.5 vByte.
A 1-input 2-output P2WPKH transaction = ~140.5 vByte (+31 vByte).
TLDR3:
Q4. Why does Green wallet’s calculated transaction size differ from BitcoinOps’ suggested size?
Lots of questions here, but any insights on any one of them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I keep seeing posts about people getting financially wrecked, sometimes in irrecoverable ways, because of meme coins and shitcoins. It genuinely upsets me, not just as a Bitcoiner, but from a humanist perspective. The lies shitcoin shillers push are pure predatory nonsense, and time after time, people fall for them.
I remember the first warning of this back in 2010 on the Bitcoin forum.
“Titcoin, gitcoin, nitcoin, shitcoin.”
It was a premonition. People were bound to get burned chasing easy riches.
I was already annoyed in 2017 when the shitcoin wave took off. Not just because of what it meant for Bitcoin in the short term, distracting from its actual purpose, but because I knew millions of people were about to financially ruin themselves gambling on hype. The worst part is that many believed Bitcoin at one thousand dollars was too expensive and chose random scams instead.
And here we are, years later, with endless posts of people losing everything on meme coins and garbage projects that were always doomed to fail. I hate seeing it happen. If only people did not fall for these scams, everyone would win in the long run.
Thankfully, the trend is slowly shifting. Bitcoin dominance hit its lowest in 2017 and has not dropped that low since. The shitcoin casino is still open, but the house of cards is gradually collapsing.
Still, it is painful to watch this cycle repeat.

Telling people they can buy a fraction of a bitcoin is dumb. We don’t tell people they can buy a fraction of gold. We use multiple units of measurement for everything else. We don’t say 0.005 gram. We say 5 milligram.
We need to normalize multiple units for bitcoin and the default unit should be millibit (0.001)
1 millibit is $84 USD at current price. It’s a more manageable unit for the average person
What’s the current price of iPhone 16e? 0.007 bi… No, it costs 7 millibit!
0.01 – bitcent
0.001 – millibit (mBTC)
0.000001 – microbit (μBTC)

I setup automated bitcoin payments on a server, but had to prune it to 550mb. I’m using bitcoin core. I’m having trouble getting the funds out. I save all of the addresses with confirmed payments in a .txt file to keep track of successful payments.
I can’t seem to dump the keys and it gives me an error saying only legacy wallets are supported.
When I check the balance of mainwallet, it says 0, which makes no sense because checking on mempool, I can see its sub-addresses certainly have funds in them. And it says that I own these addresses.
This is so frustrating and I have nearly 10k stuck in this fucking wallet that I can’t access. I’ve tried to use ChatGPT to help but it cannot help.
Edit: Stop private messaging me, I promise you won’t be able to scam me.

Some say it’s a bear market. Others tell us to zoom out when in doubt and that 82k a really good place to be at considering we were at 20k in 2023. Honestly I wish we were at 20k today so I could drop another 5k on it. But I don’t think we’ll ever be that low again. I heard people are dumping their entire 401k in case it hits 60k again but what if the bottom price this time is lower than we think? 40k? 30? Is it going up or down from here?

The Bitcoin cycle is about the designed scarcity and the inevitable liquidity crunch if demand remains relatively constant. This cycle we got a huge amount of new money and got a mini speculative bubble within this first year, and now a mini crash. But looking at past cycles 11 months in, being up roughly 20% is in line with previous performance.
Ultimately, I think the general prediction of 180k by September-October is not out of the question. We are just now coming back in line with the traditional cycle (that is more muted each round) and the early 109k ATH was an anomaly.

Throughout my investing journey I buy and want an incline and nothing else. But after understanding bitcoin I want it to chill a bit longer before taking off so I can put more of my wealth into it, even for it to drop – when it drops it feels good!
I’m not sure how much time I want it to crab, or how much of my wealth I’d be happy to have in before it flies, but that’s something I’ve got to work out.
Anyone else on the same mindset?

Hi folks, in these days I kept looking at the comparison between BTC and M2 money supply trends and something didn’t add up so today I tried to crop and paste the chart on Paint, yes, like a toddler…and I came to this conclusion that kinda suits better!
Please be gentle, cause I don’t actually believe it myself but I thought it was fun to share it (it’s an obscenity, I know, but you should attached it to your fridge for a while just to don’t hurt my retailer feelings, lol).

What I mean is…Bitcoin is by nature deflationary which is opposite to Fiat which is inflationary. But governments don’t want deflation to occur because it doesn’t encourage people to spend their money today. They would rather wait til tomorrow or the next day/month or even year to spend their money.
Is this going to be a problem if we move to a Bitcoin standard? I’ve always thought about this. People NEED to be spending money for the economy to even function, let alone thrive.
So how will the world work if most people holding Bitcoin never want to actually spend it? Bitcoin is a store of value after all.
What’s your thoughts on this and is it really going to be a problem or am I worrying about nothing here?

I started picking up trash/aluminum cans about 6 months ago while walking along the busy roads near my house. My summer can haul yielded $24.60 which bought about 41,000 sats
The post I made also generated 26,910 sats via !Intips.
My winter haul of cans plus some random items brought in $19.25 which bought another 22,349 sats
So far the total 90,259 sats have a value of about $75.80 for just cleaning up
It’s been a fun little project and it’s been cool to see how an aluminum can picked up now can grow in value, exceeding the original scrap value

Not sure if it was due to shipping or it just came off the assembly line this way. But it’s just separated at the seams and cracked. Unfortunately there’s no returns so I cannot get another one and super glue doesn’t seem to hold it together. Very disappointing, especially since these are so expensive when compared to the Jade I was using previously. It feels so cheap compared to what I paid. Just a PSA.

So, I’m really late to the game and have started purchasing crypto in the last 1.5 months. I continue to purchase Bitcoin in spurts but I understand the need to hold longterm, but does have I waited too long for Bitcoin specifically?
If I invest $500 for example it’s only a small fraction of a token so even though it may go up to 100k its only a fraction for me. Am I thinking about this correctly.
I will say buying bitcoin is addicting, I keep watching for any do to buy a little more.
Appreciate any feedback and suggestions.
